Book Week 2025: Bring Mining Into the Story

August 16–23 | Theme: Book an Adventure! ✨📚

Book Week is around the corner… and it’s the perfect opportunity for mining companies to connect with families, schools, and local communities in a meaningful, memorable way.

The Working Deep Down children’s book series was originally written to spark curiosity in my own twins… and it’s now been read by more than 5,000 young readers across Australia. These books proudly showcase the people, machines, and processes that make modern mining possible, all in a fun, age-appropriate way.

Why Mining Books for Book Week?

Because Book Week is all about adventure… and few adventures beat going “down the hole” or exploring the machines that shape our world.

Mining companies are already using the series for:

  • Site family days and open days

  • School visits and reading sessions

  • Local book donations

  • STEM and early-career outreach

  • Community engagement programs

Who’s Already Involved?

Past engagement: Westgold, Rio Tinto, BHP, BRAVUS, Epiroc
Upcoming interest: Ramelius, Regis, Northern Star, Vault, SMS, Genesis, Barminco

Why It Works

  • Loved by mining families nationwide

  • Easy to bulk-order and brand for your company or program

  • Perfect for strengthening community connection and early STEM awareness

A big thank you to Hamish Scott and the wonderful staff at Halidon Primary School for championing reading and helping bring mining to life in the classroom.
