Our Story

The Nipper Store was built for the Australian mining community, by one of its own. We understand the unique balance of a FIFO life—the demands of a long shift on site and the importance of connection at home. That’s why our store is built on two pillars: practical, hard-wearing tools for the job, and engaging children's books for the family.

From a Miner, For the Mining Community

Our founder, Jake Harris, is an experienced Underground Mining Surveyor who has spent years working on sites across the country. The Nipper Store was born from two very real needs he experienced firsthand.

Illustrated children's activity book titled 'Open Pit Kids Book' with a yellow dump truck and construction worker characters on a yellow background.

For the Family:

As a FIFO dad, Jake struggled to explain his work to his young son. He couldn't find a children's book that captured the world of mining in a fun, relatable way, so he decided to write one himself. Our book series is the result—created to help mining families bridge the distance and share the world of mining with their little ones.

For the Fitter:

On site, Jake saw how difficult it could be to source simple, quality accessories without the hassle of dealing with large industrial wholesalers. He created our tools collection to provide fellow miners with direct access to the practical, no-nonsense gear they need to make a 12-hour shift a little easier.
